Achievements: Plainfield library director cited for his historic efforts

Advocates for New Jersey History has announced that Plainfield Public Library director Joe Da Rold has been selected as the recipient of the 2011 Gail F. Stern award.
The annual award recognizes outstanding achievement in service to New Jersey community history with an emphasis on cultural diversity.
Da Rold, a Plainfield resident, has been the library’s director since 1994 and is responsible for developing its local history program. He has been honored in the past by the New Jersey Black Issues Convention and by the RAICES Hispanic Cultural Association. He was also named the 2010 Librarian of the Year by the New Jersey Library Association.
The Stern award will be presented on March 25 at the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton as part of the 18th annual New Jersey History Issues Convention.
