About the Contest
Our Annual Photography Contest offers local photographers the opportunity to contribute to the building of Plainfield’s visual archives for future historians. Professional and amateur photographers of all ages were invited to enter up to five photographs of contemporary images of Plainfield.
The theme of the 2008 competition, “Storefronts and Shopping Scenes,” met with enthusiastic response by twenty-two photographers who entered 95 new images of Plainfield. We thank these talented artists for helping us to see our community in new ways. All entries were exhibited in the Anne Louise Davis Room in the Fall of 2008 and added to the Local History Department's Photograph Collection, which includes approximately 20,000 images of Plainfield.
Funding from the Friends of the Plainfield Public Library enables the Library to recognize local talent, record Plainfield history, and build our Plainfield photography archives. Thanks to our director Joseph Hugh Da Rold and energetic Local History staff for making this exhibition a reality. |
