Literacy Volunteers of the Plainfield Public Library - HONORS

We are proud of all of the Tutors, Students and Staff working together to make the program such a great success.  Here are some of the program's accomplishments.

2024	Rosa Nicks, Adult Literacy Department, receives "Women In NAACP Award" from The Plainfield Area NAACP, in recognition of being a Phenomenal Woman and the amazing work she does for the library and throughout the community.
2021	Luz (Stella) Segura, Adult Literacy Department, receives "D.A.R. Americanism Award" from the Francis Hopkinson Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. This award recognizes a naturalized United States citizen who has demonstrated the outstanding characteristics of integrity, trustworthiness, and patriotism.
2012	Kleber Tiban, from Ecuador, receives "LVNJ Award for Student Excellence, ESL"

2009	Stephen Kilduff, Tutor, recipient of the "New Jersey State Governor's Jefferson Award for Public Service"
2009	Narvis Bent, from Colombia, receives "LVNJ Award for Student Excellence, ESL"
2008	"NJLA Public Relations Award" for Literacy brochure
2008	Literacy Advisory Committee of LVPPL receives "Library Service Award" from the New Jersey Library Association (NJLA)
2008	Recipient of the "Alice M. Leppert Award for Outstanding Affiliate Achievement" from Literacy Volunteers of New Jersey (LVNJ)
2007	Veronique Cordier, Tutor, recipient of the "New Jersey State Governor's Jefferson Award for Public Service"
2001	Martha Duval named LVNJ “Basic Literacy Tutor of the Year”
2001	Recipient of the "Alice M. Leppert Award for Outstanding Affiliate Achievement" from Literacy Volunteers of New Jersey (LVNJ)
2000	Jacob Bergman named LVNJ “Basic Literacy Tutor of the Year”
1999	Carol Bicket named LVNJ "Basic Literacy Tutor of the Year"
1999	Carol Lin, an immigrant from Thailand, named “ESL Student of the Year”
1996	Awarded full-affiliate status under the name "LVA-Plainfield"
